Sony PS5 to support Tempest 3D AudioTech in select games; find list of supported games here

Sony has just revealed some important aspects regarding its upcoming next-generation console lineup, the PS5 series. As part of a new post on the PlayStation Blog, the company shared some information around its Tempest 3D AudioTech that will come with the PS5 series. This new technology will work with the DualSense wireless controller to offer a more immersive experience around gaming on the device. The company claims that this technology 'will change the way games sound”. However, there is a catch regarding this new 3D audio technology as it is brand new in the market. Sony PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech details

As per the blog post, Sony PS5 owners need to have compatible headphones to experience the technology. One of the easiest ways to take advantage of this tech is to buy the upcoming Pulse 3D wireless headset. The company also shared a new render for the headset to go with the announcement. Sony noted that the Pulse 3D headset has been engineered to take advantage of all the latest PS5 tech. Some of the highlights of the Pule 3D headset include improved design, easy-to-access controls, and dual noise-canceling microphones. The headset will offer a seamless connectivity experience between the upcoming PS5 and the current PS4.

Sony DualSense wireless controller

Talking about other alternatives, users can experience the 3D audio experience by plugging via a USB connection to the console. Beyond this, they can even plug-in their headphones directly into the DualSense wireless controller. For some context, the control also features a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony is also working to bring this 3D audio tech with the help of virtual surround sound. As part of the work, it wants to make use of the speakers already available on TVs.

However, Sony also noted that this virtual surround sound experience will not be available to users on the launch day. Instead, users will need to wait for some time to get the feature after the launch. Sony also shared a list of all the games that will feature support for Tempest 3D AudioTech at launch.

Tempest 3D AudioTech supported games

The list of games includes Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Astro’s Playroom, and Gran Turismo 7. Other names also include Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Some other games include Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, and more.
