Valorant Mobile, the highly anticipated project of the Riot Games has been stopped as Tencent Games has pulled from its development.

Following the success of Valorant on PC, Riot Games announced its plans to bring the FPS title to the mobile platform. The announcement was made during the first anniversary of Valorant in June 2021. The gaming giant also mentioned having a major focus on the South Asian region, considered one of the biggest markets for mobile esports. It's 2023 and Valorant Mobile is still not developed, in fact, its development has now faced a major setback as Tencent Games has pulled out from the making of the mobile title.

Tencent Games stops the development of Valorant Mobile, Riot to develop the game from scratch

In an unexpected move, the development of Valorant Mobile has been stopped as Tencent Games has decided to move away from it. With this, Riot Games, who is the original developer of the FPS title has taken over the development of it. According to prominent leakers, Valorant Mobile will now be developed right from scratch by Riot Games under the expert supervision of their Los Angels team.

The surprising update on the development of Valorant Mobile surfaced on the internet after a prominent leaker SARGE tweeted that the game's development has been stopped by Tencent Games, as Riot Games is developing it from scratch alongside Valorant's console version in Los Angeles. This particularly means that the game's launch has been further delayed as Riot will be rebuilding the title from the beginning.

As of now, Riot Games has not made any official statement regarding taking over Valorant Mobile's development. It is important to note that Riot Games is owned by Tencent Games, the Chinese gaming giant that acquired the company in 2011. With the further delay in the launch of Valorant Mobile, mobile gamers around the world would be extremely disappointed as the wait continues.

It would now be important to see whether Riot would be able to maintain the hype of the FPS title in the mobile gaming community as many gaming developers have joined the fray. While Valorant Mobile is still in its development phase, NetEase launched its clone called HyperFront and got sued by Riot for blatantly copying the title.
