VALORANT: Split has been disabled for the time being, here's why

Riot Games took swift action today by immediately disabling Split in VALORANT after discovering that agents could exploit a highly advantageous position near A bombsite. Originally slated to feature in Premier matchmaking this week, Split has been replaced by Ascent for the time being.

The VALORANT team made this announcement on April 23, revealing that the Split boost was one of two unintended bugs recently identified. The second bug involved a Cypher Tripwire glitch that displayed his traps on teammates' minimaps even after his death. Riot confirmed that fixes for both issues would be included in VALORANT Patch 8.08.

While the Cypher Tripwire bug may not significantly impact gameplay, the Split boost posed a more serious threat. Riot stated in a brief statement on X (formerly Twitter) that they would be removing Split from Competitive, Unrated, Premier, Swiftplay, and Spike Rush map pools until the issue is resolved.

 

Certain agents, like Jett and Raze, have the ability to leap from Rafters near the A site to a wall immediately on the right as attackers enter the VALORANT bombsite. While this structure is typically tall with a sheer face, a small edge of geometry, reminiscent of a "pixel walk," enables players to stand and fire from it.

The positioning of this spot creates a significant disadvantage for attackers approaching the bombsite from Main. Dealing with this angle can be challenging, and if attackers manage to take control of the bombsite, a player holding a post-plant from the same position has a considerable advantage.
