Valve Shuts Down Third-Party Deadlock Trackers: What Happened to Your MMR?

  • September 10, 2024 (UPDATED: September 10, 2024 20:18 IST)

Discover why Deadlock Tracker stopped updating player stats after September 2, 2024, and what Valve's restrictions mean for tracking your MMR in Deadlock.

Competitive multiplayer games thrive on rankings, and Deadlock is no exception. For those grinding away, there’s nothing sweeter than seeing your name rise on the global leaderboard. But here’s the kicker – Valve hasn’t made an official ranked leaderboard yet. And just when third-party sites like Deadlock Tracker were stepping up to fill the void, Valve decided to pull the plug. Let’s break it down!

What Happened to My MMR?

In the world of Deadlock, your MMR (Matchmaking Rating) is everything – but right now, there’s no official way to see where you stand. Third-party sites were your go-to for tracking match stats and ranking details. But in early September, Valve limited their access, and since then, sites like Deadlock Tracker stopped updating individual player data after September 2. So, while you can still access old stats, your recent triumphs? Vanished, at least for now.

Why Did Valve Do This?

The developers at Deadlock Tracker said it themselves on Discord: "Valve’s restrictions have made tracking matches almost impossible." The hope was that it might be temporary, but there’s no guarantee until possibly Open Beta. It seems Valve would rather keep everything under wraps while the game is still in early development.

Can You Still See Your Stats?

Well, kind of. You can still peek at your older stats by logging in through Steam and checking the Profile or Ranking tabs on Deadlock Tracker. Your DLT Rating (basically your MMR) will be listed alongside your total matches, wins, losses, kills, and all the crunchy details. Just don’t expect any new data past September 2.

Why All the Fuss?

Let’s face it, we all love to know where we stand – especially in competitive multiplayer games. But for now, Valve is keeping a tight lid on things. With Deadlock still in its early stages and plenty of changes coming down the pipeline, this move makes sense. It's a bummer, but patience is key. Stay tuned for Open Beta!
