Leaks suggest Stelle and Caelus may receive new English voice actors in Honkai: Star Rail, sparking widespread community discussion.
The online community is buzzing with speculation after some leaks indicated HoYoverse may make major voice casting changes to Honkai: Star Rail in English. The English voice actors for the main avatars Stelle and Caelus have been replaced in new game files, as found by dataminers and fans which suggests the game’s narrative could change soon.
Rachel Chau and Caleb Yen’s Departure Raises Questions
Since the game was released around the world, Rachel Chau and Caleb Yen have voiced the female and male Trailblazer characters. Thanks to their performances, these otherwise mute characters became more distinctive in important story moments, as their voice lines added feeling and growth to the protagonists. However, many noticed that some of the Trailblazers have new voices in the trailer for Hyacine which has fans thinking it might mean they were recast. This information was added to the growing concern after data mining pointed to fresh voice lines recorded by various, as of yet anonymous, actors.
SAG-AFTRA Strike’s Impact on Honkai: Star Rail
It’s quite possible that the SAG-AFTRA strike, causing many problems for voice acting portions in video games, explains this sudden change. During this period, a lot of actors decided to take breaks, like several in the Honkai: Star Rail community did. Because the dialogues of Stelle, Caelus, Himeko and Dan Heng were not included in the latest Amphoreus quest, it seems that there are larger problems facing the voiceover process.
