When is Arena Mode Coming To an End in League of Legends?

  • September 12, 2024 (UPDATED: September 12, 2024 11:46 IST)

The popular 2v2v2v2 Arena mode in League of Legends is closing on September 27, 2023. Explore the unique gameplay and enjoy the final days of combat before it takes a break ahead of the 2024 World Championship events.

The League of Legends Arena mode, first introduced during an event in July 2023, has become a fan-favorite limited-time mode (LTM). Known for its unique combat setup, it offers a refreshing break from the traditional Summoner's Rift gameplay. The mode has gained traction with regular updates, its own ranked system, and an established place in the League community.

However, as with all good things, Arena mode’s latest run is coming to an end. Riot originally planned to close the mode on September 10, but due to technical issues that interrupted gameplay, the Arena mode will now end on Friday, September 27, at 6 PM PT. Here’s a breakdown of the closure times across different regions:

The decision to shelve Arena mode aligns with Riot’s broader scheduling. The 2024 World Championship events are kicking off, which will also feature the return of the Ultimate Spellbook LTM. Additionally, with the 2025 preseason changes approaching, Riot needs players to shift their focus to Summoner’s Rift for testing and balancing.

Despite Arena’s popularity, Riot has stated that the mode is unlikely to become permanent. The reasoning behind this is to maintain the focus on Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss as core game modes, without fragmenting the player base too much. However, there’s hope that Arena mode will return more frequently due to its overwhelming success, with Riot showing interest in supporting more LTMs in the future.

For now, fans can enjoy the remaining days of the gladiator-style combat before Arena takes a break.
