The strong performance in 2020 opens several avenues for TiMi Studios in the future. This is more than likely considering how the game developer is showing no signs of slowing down. Talking about the next level, TiMi Studios is likely looking at developing AAA video games for multiple platforms beyond smartphones. The report from Reuters noted that the company wants to develop games for Windows, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Xbox. As part of the plans, the company has already started hiring new people. It also shared its vision for a future AAA title that is somewhat like Ready Player One from 2018.

Looking at the details, the company wants to create a virtual community in the game where players can go “head-to-head against big powers from Japan, Korea, Europe, and the U.S.” Besides the AAA title, Tencent, the parent company of TiMi Studios is also planning to create more game development studios across the globe. Currently, the company wants to develop on studio for TiMi, Lightspeed, and Quantum in Los Angeles. As part of the push, the company wants to ensure that it earns half its revenue “from overseas”. For some context, the company earned about 23 percent in Q4 of 2019.

The report also stated that an increasing number of AAA video game developers are teaming up with Tencent to bring their properties to the smartphone world. Most of the games come with “long sessions and in-depth storytelling or battles, with some including multiplayer online role-playing or online battle arenas.”
