Activision confirms using AI in Call of Duty, and fans say, 'We knew it all along!'

For years, Call of Duty fans have speculated that AI-generated content was quietly making its way into the franchise. Now, after countless rumors and some suspicious design choices, Activision has finally come clean yes, AI is being used in Call of Duty. But instead of shock, the community’s reaction is more like: “Yeah, we figured.”

Call of Duty’s AI Secret Is Out

The revelation came via the Black Ops 6 Steam page, where Activision quietly confirmed:

"Our team uses generative AI tools to help develop some in-game assets."

What does that actually mean? Activision didn’t dive into specifics, but it likely includes background details in campaign missions, textures, weapon skins, or promotional artwork. One thing’s clear AI is now playing a role in shaping Call of Duty’s visual world.

The Six-Fingered Santa Incident

If you’ve been following CoD updates, this probably isn’t a shocker. Players have long suspected AI involvement, especially after spotting bizarre cosmetics and unnatural designs in recent releases.

One major clue? A holiday-themed Black Ops 6 loading screen featuring a zombified Santa complete with six fingers. Fans immediately called it an AI-generated blunder, and now, those suspicions have been officially confirmed.

Why Is Activision Using AI?

As a live-service game, Call of Duty constantly needs fresh content new Operator skins, weapon blueprints, charms, and more. With frequent collaborations and seasonal events, using AI helps speed up asset creation and meet the relentless demand for new visuals.
