ALGS Open 2025 kicks off with new format, $1M prize, and global livestream coverage.
The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Open 2025 has officially kicked off, marking a milestone year for the competitive circuit. Taking place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, this opening event breaks a new record with 160 teams from across the globe competing—making it the biggest competition in ALGS history.
This event is the kick-off to the 2025 season and presents players with an important chance to earn Championship Points and claim part of the $1 million prize pool.
ALGS Open 2025 Format
Due to the level of involvement, the ALGS Open 2025 incorporates a newly updated tournament format. The event lasts from May 1st through May 3rd, with a double-elimination bracket that culminates in a high-pressure Match Point Final taking place on May 4th.
Team seedings within the bracket are decided based on their previous performances during either the ALGS Pro League's first split or the Challenger Circuit. In every round of the bracket, the highest 10 teams advance and the lowest 10 drop into the elimination bracket or are eliminated altogether. The last 20 teams move into the Match Point stage, where achieving 50 points releases a opportunity to win—if the team then succeeds in a match with the Match Point engaged.
ALGS Open 2025 Prize Distribution
The $1 million prize fund is split amongst the first 40 teams, in addition to a carefully designed allocation of Championship Points that determine qualification to subsequent phases of the season, such as the Midseason Playoffs.
The champion of the tournament will receive $300,000 and 1,000 Championship Points, with rewards diminishing for the rest of the ranking. Even the 40th-ranked team will receive 100 points, although prize money is reserved for those teams ranking 29th or better.
How to Stream ALGS Open 2025
Viewers can catch the action on Apex Legends' official Twitch and YouTube streams. Multiple viewing options will be available in the tournament, including FACEIT Watch, where viewers can switch between four-player views and a live map stream for improved viewing.
