Ubisoft updates Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s Steam page with new changes, fueling speculation of a potential remake or re-release.

Ubisoft did something unexpected, without saying a word about it, they did some changes on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's Steam page. Fans who follow all these closely are now discussing and speculating what it could possibly mean for the future of the game.

On the 8th of July of year 2025, sharp eyes had noticed that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was now appearing differently on Steam. Ubisoft Connect thing was removed from the third-party DRM part, which many didn't expect to happen. Also, there are few new promo images what replaced the older one, and hidden information that most people don't see was also changed. Ubisoft hasn't said anything so far about this, and it's being speculated something might be on the way.

People Think a Remake Maybe Coming

There were some rumors in 2023 that state a remake of Black Flag was kicked off by Ubisoft. That wasn't confirmed at time, but now, these new strange Steam activity makes people believe that perhaps the rumors were true. The original game from year 2013 is still loved by many for its ocean travel and pirate story, especially the character Edward Kenway who is a nice guy. Ubisoft in recent year making their older styles, such as in Assassin's Creed Mirage, so this might be something similar.

Even though Ubisoft doesn't say anything about a remake, this is the way it happened previously, such as Prince of Persia which also had secret changes before new announcements happened.

Fans Feel Mixed but Mostly Happy

After fans saw the update, there were lots of discussions online and social media full with theories. Some believe it might only be for game bug fixing, maybe making it run well on new computers. Others believe it might be for Assassin's Creed Infinity, the new platform that will bring together lots of AC games. There isn't a single person who really knows, but usually the response is positive.

Even with all the speculations, Ubisoft has not confirmed or denied it yet. The new game Assassin's Creed Shadows is already scheduled for this year, so maybe they are waiting the proper time to say something more about Black Flag.

So, now everybody is just waiting for that Steam page, hoping for another clue. Maybe Edward Kenway will sail once again to sea, and we will learn soon.
