Ubisoft’s 1.0.5 patch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows adds a Balatro crossover, Dead by Daylight event, major parkour improvements, and bug fixes. Discover new trinkets, smoother movement, and unlock hidden quests!
Ubisoft dropped the 1.0.5 patch for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and yes, it’s quite something. From new crossovers to gameplay improvements and much-needed fixes, this update packs a punch, even if the delivery feels a bit mysterious at times.
Balatro Crossover: A Winning Hand, Literally
The most standout piece from this patch gotta be the Balatro crossover. This introduces a new trinket called Winning Hand, usable by both Naoe and Yasuke. It gives a cool twist to your fights by inflicting ailments when you land combo finishers.
Well, Ubisoft didn’t spill the beans. They say players need to “work together” to discover how it’s earned, which means more forums, Reddit threads, and wild theories incoming. Adds a puzzle to the adventure, which some fans will like and others may not so much.
Patch Size, Access Details, & Thrown to the Dogs Quest
Now, let’s talk numbers. The patch comes in different sizes depending on where you play. PS5 users get 3.31 GB, Xbox Series X/S gets the biggest chunk at 19 GB, Mac gets 9 GB, PC gets 13 GB, and Steam players only need 4.3 GB. It’s a bit odd how much it varies, but that’s what we got.
In good news, the pre-order bonus mission “Thrown to the Dogs” is now open to all. Set after the “From Spark to Flame” quest, this early-game side story involves helping a loyal dog avenge his owner. Once completed, players can unlock Tsuki-maru as a pet back at the Hideout. You’ll need to head over to Tennoji Temple, near Osaka, to start this furry mission.
Dead by Daylight Event: Mystery & Rewards
The Dead by Daylight event is also live. Here, Naoe investigates missing villagers and spooky goings-on. After unlocking Yasuke, you can find this quest at the Hideout.
Finishing it nets you a trinket and banner, plus there are more items in the store, including themed clothes, weapons, and Maurice the horse. A bit commercial, but the free stuff’s decent.
Big Boost to Parkour
Fans have always loved the freedom of movement in Assassin’s Creed, and this update finally makes it smoother. A few notable changes:
-
Vertical Jump Added: Now you can leap and catch ledges without always needing to wall run. Just jump off overhangs.
-
Sprint Toggle Lock Fixed: You can keep sprinting while doing Parkour Up or Down if you’re holding directional keys.
-
Better Eject Moves: Back and side jumps now go further, with improved animations, especially for Naoe.
These tweaks should make traversal feel more fun and less clunky.
Bugs Squashed & Balance Adjusted
Ubisoft also tackled a bunch of bugs and annoying issues, such as:
-
Fixed those new item alerts that never went away and saved problems at level 60.
-
Romance storylines and localisation errors have been cleaned up.
-
The economy was rebalanced to encourage exploring more than just buying stuff.
-
Quests like “Wolves and Foxes” and “Diary of Lady Rokkaku” should now progress properly.
-
Hideout is now more stable, and that weird giant NPC glitch? Gone.
-
Xbox users get back Balanced Performance Mode and better input response.
Photo Mode also got some tweaks, though details were a bit vague. So, with all these new events, gameplay polish and bug fixes, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows just got a lot more interesting.
