Battlefield 6 Playtest Starts May 23 – How to Join, Platforms, and What to Expect

EA is already letting a lucky few dive into the action early through an exclusive playtest. If you’re itching to experience next-gen chaos before the masses, here’s your chance.

Battlefield 6 Playtest Dates & Times

Get your schedules ready! The Battlefield 6 playtest kicks off on Friday, May 23 at 3 AM PT, and runs for a full 72 hours, wrapping up on May 26.

Here’s when it starts in other time zones:

• 6 AM ET

• 10 AM CEST

•  11 AM BST

Plenty of time to cause mayhem.

How to Join the Battlefield 6 Playtest

This isn’t an open beta — it’s a very exclusive closed test. To even have a shot at getting in, you’ll need to sign up as a playtester through Battlefield Labs.

Here's how it works:

1. Head to the Battlefield Labs site.

2. Sign in and register your interest.

3. Wait for an email invite — fingers crossed!

If you’re chosen, you’ll be among the first to see what Battlefield 6 is cooking up.

Platforms: Who Gets to Play?

The playtest will be available for:

• PC

• PlayStation 5

• Xbox Series X|S

That means current-gen only — sorry, PS4 and Xbox One users. As for a Nintendo Switch or rumored Switch 2 version? No news yet, and let’s be honest — Battlefield hasn’t exactly been cozy with Nintendo platforms in the past.

Crossplay Incoming?

While it hasn’t been 100% confirmed, crossplay seems very likely. Since the playtest spans multiple platforms, it’s safe to assume Battlefield 6 will support crossplay — possibly with the option to toggle it off (we’ll see).

 

 

What’s in the Battlefield 6 Playtest?

Details are light, but here’s what we do know:

• EA’s main goal is to stress test the servers with higher player counts over the full weekend.

• You’ll get access to a “select group of maps and modes.”

What might we see?

Chances are, they’ll be testing the classic All-Out Warfare mode, and maybe even teasing some new large-scale maps that push next-gen hardware. Think BF2042-style chaos, but with fewer bugs and more polish. Hopefully.

Speculation Station: What Else Could Be Coming?

EA’s being tight-lipped, but based on Battlefield’s track record, we might expect:

• Dynamic weather events (tornadoes, sandstorms, maybe even volcanoes?)

• Next-gen destruction physics (more buildings going boom = always better)

• Specialist tweaks or even a full return to classic classes (fingers crossed!)

• Revamped squad mechanics and maybe new tools for team coordination

If this playtest goes smoothly, it could hint at a much more refined and explosive Battlefield experience compared to BF2042.
