BGIS 2025: Format, Schedule, Finals Dates & More

The fourth edition of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 is just around the corner, with the action-packed tournament set to commence on January 25, 2025. Organized by Krafton India Esports, this year’s event will see a massive pool of participants, including 64 professional teams and 1,016 squads making their way through the open qualifiers. Registrations are already live on the official Krafton India Esports website, providing aspiring teams the chance to compete in one of the biggest esports events of the year.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the BGIS 2025 format and schedule:

In-Game Qualifiers: January 25 – February 2

The tournament kicks off with the in-game qualifiers, a nine-day test of skill and strategy. Thousands of teams will participate, but only the top 106 squads will advance to the next stage. This phase serves as the entry point for amateur teams aspiring to break into the competitive BGIS scene.

The Grind: February 5 – 23

"The Grind" serves as a proving ground for 64 teams, including top contenders from BGIS 2024 and BMPS 2024. Spanning four weeks, this phase determines team placements for subsequent rounds. High-performing teams can skip certain stages, while lower-ranked teams have additional opportunities to progress.

Round Breakdown

Round 1 (February 16 – 23)

Participants:

• 1,024 teams, including 106 from in-game qualifiers and bottom-ranked teams from Group B of The Grind.

Format:

• Teams are split into 64 groups of 16 teams each.
• Top 2 teams from each group and the overall top 48 teams move to Round 2.

Round 2 (February 27 – March 2)

Participants:

• 512 teams, including 496 from Round 1, 8 from Group D, and 8 from Group C of The Grind.

Format:

• Teams are split into 32 groups of 16 teams each.
• Top 7 teams from each group and the overall top 16 teams advance to Round 3.

Round 3 (March 6 – 9)

Participants:

• 256 teams, including 240 from Round 2, 8 from Group C, and 8 from Group B of The Grind.

Format:

• Teams are divided into 16 groups of 16 teams each.
• Top 6 teams from each group and the overall top 16 teams progress to Round 4.

Round 4 (March 13 – 16)

Participants:

• 128 teams, including 112 from Round 3, 8 from Group B, and 8 from Group A of The Grind.

Format:

• Teams are divided into 8 groups of 16 teams each.
• Top 7 teams from each group and the overall top 16 teams advance to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals: March 20 – 23

The Quarterfinals feature 64 teams, including 56 from earlier rounds and 8 from Group A of The Grind. Teams are split into 4 groups, with the top 16 teams advancing directly to the Semifinals and the rest moving to the Wild Card Round.

Wild Card Round: March 24 – 27

This stage gives another chance to teams that couldn’t qualify directly for the Semifinals. 64 teams compete across 4 groups, with group reshuffles after two days. The top 16 teams based on cumulative points will proceed to the Semifinals.

Semifinals: March 29 – April 6

The Semifinals are divided into two weeks:

Week 1 (March 29 – April 1):

• 32 teams compete in a round-robin format.
• Top 8 teams qualify for the Grand Finals.
• The remaining 24 teams continue to Week 2.

Week 2 (April 3 – 6):

• Another 8 teams secure their spots in the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals: April 18 – 20

The top 16 teams will compete for the coveted BGIS 2025 title in a LAN event held in Kolkata. Over three days and 18 matches, the ultimate champion will be crowned, solidifying their place in Battlegrounds Mobile India history.
