Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer beta is expected in late September, with Early Access likely for pre-orders and Xbox Game Pass. Here's everything we know so far.
While Activision hasn’t officially dropped the beta details for Black Ops 7 just yet, the leaks are coming in hot and they’re pointing to a pretty familiar pattern. If you’ve been around for recent CoD releases, you’ll know the drill, which are practically tradition at this point.
So When’s the Beta?
According to reliable leaker TheGhostOfHope, the Black Ops 7 multiplayer beta is expected to land sometime near the end of September. Right now, the weekend of September 26 is the most likely target. That lines up well with how Activision has done things in the past, but of course, we’ll have to wait until they officially confirm it. Still, it's never too early to start warming up your aim.
Before that, though, the game is set to have a full reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August. Then comes the Call of Duty Next event, which is always a highlight. That’s where we’ll get the first deep dive into the game with gameplay demos, new trailers, and likely some influencer streams showing off multiplayer in real time. Based on previous years, Call of Duty Next could happen around August 28, with the beta kicking off right after.
How to Get In
If Activision sticks with their usual format, there will be two beta phases. First up is Early Access. To get in early, you’ll either need to preorder the game or be a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass for a nice little perk for those already on the service. A few days later comes the Open Beta, which will be available for everyone across supported platforms.
Expect the Early Access beta to hit PlayStation first, with Xbox and PC following shortly after. That staggered rollout is pretty much the standard now.
What You'll Be Playing
The beta will focus on multiplayer, giving players a taste of what’s coming in the full game. You’ll likely get access to several maps, weapons, and Operators to test out. Last year’s beta featured eight multiplayer maps, a solid weapon lineup, and a good chunk of Perks and Scorestreaks. It’s safe to say Black Ops 7 will offer something similar, enough to keep players busy all weekend.
We also know that Black Ops 7 will feature a campaign set in 2035 that continues the Black Ops 2 story, along with the return of round based Zombies. So even if you’re just here for multiplayer, there’s a lot more on the horizon to get excited about.
