Resident Evil: Survival Unit brings tactical gameplay to mobile as Capcom, Aniplex, and JoyCity reveal a global RTS game set in the RE universe.
Capcom has announced a new game, and this time it's not what fans were probably thinking. The game is being called Resident Evil: Survival Unit, and it is not a horror shooter like the others. It’s made for mobile and is strategy-based. That’s right—this time, players won’t be shooting zombies much but more about managing and thinking with tactics.
Developers Who Are Working Behind
This isn’t only Capcom’s work. The game’s being created along with Aniplex, who usually does anime games, and JoyCity, the company that had made mobile strategy titles like Tides of War. It’s like three companies coming together to bring something not usual for the series. A strange mix, but maybe it can work somehow.
How It Plays, Or Supposed To
The gameplay idea is supposed to be about “real-time strategy,” as they said. So instead of the usual survival horror with guns and monsters, players must do base-building and deploying teams. There is no gameplay shown now, so we don’t actually know exactly how it will feel.
Capcom said it’s “reimagining survival horror for mobile,” though that’s a phrase that sounds exciting but also confusing a little.
Platforms and Release Info
The game will be coming on iOS and Android, and not limited to Japan or something like that. It’s going to launch worldwide, including regions like the USA, Korea, Europe, and more. But so far, there is no confirmation if it will be free or if players need to purchase it. People are guessing maybe it will use the regular mobile monetization like others.
More Details Are Coming Soon
If you want to learn more, a livestream is going to happen on July 10 at 3 PM PT (or 6 PM ET). Capcom and the partners will be sharing more stuff during that stream. Possibly gameplay footage, details on the monetization, and maybe even a release date could be there.
It’ll be streamed online through YouTube and official pages in English and Japanese, which is good for global fans.
What’s the Reason This Game Matters
It is the first time in many years that Capcom has done something so different with Resident Evil. A mobile RTS isn’t what anyone was expecting. Some fans may not like the idea right now, but it can also be interesting for those who want a new style of playing the universe. The idea might work if done nicely.
And Also, There's Another Resident Evil Coming
People who just want the regular type of Resident Evil can look forward too. Resident Evil: Requiem is also in development. That’s the ninth game and has Leon in it, and it will come out on February 27, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series, and PS5. That game looks like the usual horror fans have been waiting for.
