CS2 Rolls Out Weekly Missions and Expands Community Map Pool in May 8 Update

CS2 adds weekly missions, new community maps, and updates map rotations in latest patch.

Valve has released a new update for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), introducing weekly missions and re-shuffling its deathmatch and casual map selections. The update, released on May 8, places greater focus on community engagement and gameplay variety.

New Weekly Missions Provide XP Bonus

One of the most obvious aspects of the new update is the addition of weekly missions. These are the optional quests that reward extra experience points for completion. Once a week, the players will be given a new mission, available directly through the play and main menus. The addition was designed to reward frequent play while maintaining the experience diverse.

Community Maps are entering Competitive Rotation

The update also increases CS2's map rotation by adding a few community-created environments. Jura, Grail, and Agency are now included in the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch playlists. The three maps are now included under a newly created "Community Map Group," making them easily accessible.

In the meantime, Dogtown and Brewery are first introduced to the Wingman mode, which contributes to more variety in the strategic 2v2 gameplay. These newcomers are in keeping with Valve's continuing efforts to incorporate community-created content into official game modes.

Map Groups Revised

To further streamline the user experience, the casual and deathmatch map rotations have been re-designed. The re-shuffling is meant to enhance match variety and encourage both official and community-created content.
