Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle smashes Japan box office records with massive four-day opening.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was released on July 18 in Japan, and after that, many things changed. Right from the beginning, it became very big. Reports have revealed that it has broken multiple records since the first weekend. Not only one or two, but nearly all of them. Now it is also standing as the second most earning movie in Japan for this year, and that in only four days. First place still with Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, but Infinity Castle is inching closer.

First day, that was Friday, the movie got 1.64 billion yen (US\$11.11 million) and around 1.15 million tickets were sold. Then Saturday came, and more people came to see, so it made 1.84 billion yen (US\$12.47 million) with 1.26 million tickets. But Sunday, that one went even higher. It took 2.03 billion yen (US\$13.76 million) and 1.42 million people watched, which turned into the biggest money made in one day in Japanese cinema till now. After this happened, the film already broke all three-day records, making 5.52 billion yen (US\$37.42 million) and selling a total of 3.84 million tickets.

Then on Monday, it was a national holiday, and more people still went to see the movie. That day, it collected another 1.79 billion yen (US\$12.13 million), and the tickets were 1.32 million more. So if all four days count together, it reaches 7.31 billion yen (US\$49.55 million) and totals 5.16 million tickets. For now, that makes it the second biggest movie in Japan for 2025.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Breaks Multiple Records in Japan

This Infinity Castle movie breaks every record that Mugen Train had before, which was from the year 2020. That older one also got very big, but the time it was released was during the coronavirus pandemic. So, they only use half the seats. Even still, that film made 4.62 billion yen (US\$43.8 million) in just three days. But now, this new one, it already goes above all that. Also, the IMAX screen gives strong support. The report says from Deadline that around US$3 million in three days comes from IMAX. In four days, IMAX's total was nearly US$3.5 million.

The movie was directed by Haruo Sotozaki, who did it again with help from Studio ufotable. Character looks and how they move were handled by Akira Matsushima; he checked all that. The music part is by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, both giving the sound what fits the scenes. After it comes out in Japan, it is also going to come out in the USA and Canada on September 12. Later, more details gonna be added to the official website, but not all is told now.

The story goes after Tanjiro Kamado, who does not stop fighting demons, even after what happened to his sister—she turned into one of them. He's not alone, though. With Zenitsu and Inosuke, who are both a bit different but still help much, they keep going to face all kinds of demons. Also with them are Hashira, who are strong fighters and are like the top rank of their group. They give a big help. In this new part, suddenly, Muzan comes to the headquarters. Not much wait, the fighting starts very quickly. Then, something happens—they all end up falling in a weird space which they call the Infinity Castle. That place it's not normal. Everything changed there. From that place, now start the final fighting. It is now between the demons and the humans who have been chasing them for a long time. It's not looking simple anymore.
