Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate expansion faces issues with ability regen, mission restarts, and console bugs. Bungie confirms fixes are in development.
Destiny 2: Edge of Fate promised to be a stimulating stride, and in certain dimensions, it remains the same. The new planet Kepler, which was filled with odd yellow webs and distorted time effects, offered the players a whole new environment with many mysteries. New armor, new gear, and the Destinations' powerful abilities, not to mention new activity, The Sieve, Bungie has intended to make a shake-up of the way the game is played.
But for many Guardians, the excitement didn’t last too long. Soon after launch, players began noticing something off; ability regen wasn’t happening the way it was said. Supposedly, getting your ability stat to 70 was enough to match the old cooldown speeds, and anything more would boost it even further. But that’s not what happened in-game. Most realized the improvement wasn’t kicking in unless the stat reached 85, which made some builds feel broken or underpowered, especially when trying tough content like the Desert Perpetual raid, which just released July 19 under Contest rules.
Bungie eventually posted on X (which used to be Twitter), saying they knew about the problem and were checking into it. A fix is coming, they said, and a better explanation of the regen system will also be added in future patch notes.
But this issue wasn’t the only trouble. People also complained that if they left a mission early, they couldn’t start it again. On top of that, PlayStation 5 users reported sound problems, while some on PS4 said their game crashes whenever they enter the Tower.
Bungie generally reacts to bugs of this nature quite quickly, though several of them right at the beginning of such a large expansion have put a sour taste in the mouth of some members of the community. Most of them were so optimistic to get to enjoy all the new stuff with ease, but these bugs were affecting that.
The update is coming nonetheless, and as long as Bungie continues appearing on social media, it can only be a matter of time before expansion returns to normal.
