Dr DisRespect Gains Back YouTube Monetization as Midnight Society Closes Its Doors

  • January 31, 2025 (UPDATED: January 31, 2025 23:28 IST)

Dr Disrespect regains YouTube monetization after a six-month hiatus, while Midnight Society announces its closure on the same day.

In a surprising turn of events, controversial streamer Dr DisRespect has regained his YouTube monetization after a lengthy period of demonetization. His channel was initially hit with a ban following allegations from former Twitch employees that he had been permanently banned on the platform due to inappropriate messages with an underage individual. However, Dr Disrespect vehemently denied the claims, accusing Twitch staff of taking his messages out of context.

After a brief hiatus, Dr Disrespect returned to YouTube, where his channel remained demonetized. In December 2024, he even made a move to rival streaming platform Rumble, where he led the gaming section, known for taking in controversial figures. Now, six months after the controversy began, the streamer announced during his January 30th broadcast that YouTube had reversed its decision, allowing him to monetize his channel once more.

"Fking good news, monetization is back," Dr Disrespect exclaimed, adding that he'd work on resolving any issues surrounding donations. "But ladies and gentlemen, we got our fking YouTube monetization back."

While Dr Disrespect's YouTube return is a significant development, it coincides with the closure of Midnight Society, the game studio that initially partnered with him. In a statement posted on X on January 30th, 2025, Midnight Society confirmed the closure of its operations. This move comes shortly after the allegations against Dr Disrespect and the studio's decision to sever ties with him.

Dr Disrespect, commenting on the situation, stated, “Weird world.”
