Dune: Awakening receives its biggest update yet with over 300 changes, bug fixes, and reworks to combat, building, and core survival mechanics.
This patch also did quite a lot of things to core mechanics, especially things like resource gathering, crafting flows and stamina usage. Tools lasts longer now, so you won’t have to repair or replace them too often. They also made animations more smoother, especially when doing mining or fighting actions.
As for base building, some placements that were acting weird have been changed. Players will find that they can now build with a bit more freedom, but also will need to keep an eye on how the environment affects the durability. You might see your shelter fall apart if you don’t plan carefully, due to sandstorms and stuff like that.
Weapons and Combat Feel Different Now
Funcom also did big changes in the combat systems and how weapons feels. Guns, like pistols and rifles, shoot more comfortably now. There’s less bounce in the aiming, and melee stuff like blades and poles feel quicker when striking.
The enemy AI also got smarter, though maybe too smart for some. They now hear you better and react when they see something off. This means sneaky tactics are more doable, but also more risky. They also messed with armor values and shields, trying to make players try more variety instead of always using same sets.
Bugs and Glitches Finally Got Some Attention
There were a lot of bug fixes, really a lot. Probably over hundred issues, including some annoying ones like:
-
That endless water bug where survival basically didn’t matter—it’s gone.
-
Certain item duplication exploits, used by players to cheat the system, are no longer possible.
-
Crashing bugs during crafting and managing inventory are also mostly fixed now.
And they say they improved internal logging, so next time something breaks, it might be easier for them to figure it out.
Future Plans Hinted
From what’s written in the patch notes, they’re not done. There’s mention of mounts, spice economy improvements, and guild upgrades that are being planned for future builds. The reaction so far seems quite good, with many test players saying this patch finally made the game feel stable and more ready.
So yeah, this is one of those patches where Dune: Awakening looks more like the desert epic we’ve been waiting for, even if some sand still needs smoothing out.
