Elden Ring Nightreign Addresses Matchmaking Issues with Major June Update

Recently, FromSoftware has boosted the matchmaking system in "Elden Ring: Nightreign" through an upgrade. This step is made to address widespread issues from fans about the cooperative mode in the main quests.

On June 6, 2025, the game's servers received planned maintenance to improve the process of matchmaking for expeditions when a Remembrance is going on. For two hours, the maintenance disturbed all platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox and PC . The main purpose was to address situations in which players waited too much for matches or couldn’t team up properly which made it hard for them to move forward in the expansion’s content.

Before getting this update, players said they experienced major challenges using the matchmaking system. Some situations involved players waiting for a long time to find teammates and sadly, some couldn’t match at all. For anybody who wanted to play duos in public matches, these difficulties were most noticeable at first since the game gave more priority to teams of three.
Being aware of what their community wants, FromSoftware handled the technical part of multiplayer and introduced the ‘Duo Expeditions’ gameplay mode for two people. The addition of this feature is meant to meet players’ needs by making it easier for just two players to enjoy the adventure. 

FromSoftware included this update as part of its aim to make the multiplayer aspects of the game better. Because the game sold more than 3.5 million copies within the first five days, it proves why responsive and effective matchmaking matters. Further changes and communication with the community are expected as the developers make the game better and answer player feedback.
