Epic Games Improves Synchronous Emote Previews in Fortnite

  • October 14, 2024 (UPDATED: October 14, 2024 15:57 IST)

Fortnite's latest update enhances Synced Emotes with a dual-user preview, making it easier to visualize emotes with friends. Released alongside FortniteMares, this upgrade excites players and increases engagement.

Epic Games made a quite important update to Fortnite's Synced Emotes, having the preview feature display two users instead of only one user. Together with the FortniteMares, this wave brought about exciting content: new cosmetics and some changes in the gameplay. Lost in the Halloween atmosphere, the community paid attention to a rather minor update of Synced Emotes, for it brings players more depth with preview features.

Better Previews, Greater Attraction

Since the introduction of the first Synced Emote in Fortnite's Chapter 2, Season 1, the players have been embracing these emotes as an exciting way to engage with the other players. However, so far, the limitation has been the lack of a good preview that shows both the involved parties. At the request of many fans, players can now get an idea of how all these emotes look if they were in between two characters. This way, it is easy to imagine performing this emote with a friend or another player in-game. It has excited many fans, especially those collecting emotes.

Among the first to note this, Reddit poster Jimmie118 uploaded a clip of Bust a Move Icon Series Emote, now featuring two Wolverines in sync. Some other Synced Emotes also follow this new preview style, including Hey Now! and Master of Puppets, and Jump Around, where the latter shows as many as four participants.

Community Reaction

For most Fortnite community members, the update has elicited highly positive responses. Many believe that this enhances the appeal of buying Synced Emotes as they now have a clearer idea of how it works among other players. "This small change makes a huge difference," one Reddit user said. "I'm much more likely to buy a synced emote now."

This update comes at the right time, right in the middle of the event FortniteMares, which has brought so much excitement about all those new skins, Billy the Puppet from Saw and characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas, amongst many, many more; this event mainly focuses on that new stuff and the Halloween-themed map, but the Synced Emote preview has become one of the notable quality-of-life upgrades.

When the change is small, like in this case, for Fortnite, this will have a huge impact on engagement. For Epic Games, changes are supported through community feedback and adjustments made with great care, which keeps the game fresh and still entertaining. There is hope that in the future, even more changes of such nature will occur, hence improving the game experience as a whole.
