Global campaign follows players' journeys to Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh.
The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) introduced "Road to EWC," a new global campaign that documents the journey of players and esports Clubs as they battle for qualification to the highly anticipated Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The campaign will run between May and August and will aim to unite fans across the globe with the personal and competitive narratives that drive the esports audience.
To be held from July 7 to August 24, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Esports World Cup will return on an unprecedented level with more than $70 million in prize pools—the largest in the history of competitive gaming. The Road to EWC campaign will be a lead-up to this gargantuan event, giving fans a glimpse of the competitive fire, grit, and personal sacrifices that characterize the esports journey.
The campaign will feature content from some of the largest regional and international qualifier events, including big events like EVO Japan, DreamHack Dallas, and the KPL Finals. Through the use of player interviews, behind-the-scenes action, and game explainers, EWCF aims to appeal to both hardcore esports fans and newcomers alike, and bring the high-stakes world of pro gaming to everyone.
Faisal Bin Homran, EWCF Chief Product Officer, placed the bigger picture of the campaign into perspective when he stated, "Road to EWC is not all about crowning champions—it's about celebrating everyone who competes. These are tales of ambition, rivalry, and determination that make the journey worthwhile and exciting for fans." The creative approach of the campaign is through the "Rise Above" theme of aspiration and determination. A series of multimedia materials, including today's launch of an opening short film, will contain uplifting personal stories from outstanding players and Clubs. The personal stories will be released across a variety of digital platforms, with the aim of generating community interest and worldwide interest in the build-up to the final event.
By turning the Road to EWC into a year-round storytelling campaign, EWCF is turning the Esports World Cup into something more than a competition, but a celebration of esports culture. The campaign will lead up to the summer tournament while establishing emotional connections between the fans and the players.
