Fortnite The Getaway LTM Return: How to Play & What’s New in Chapter 6 Season 2

The fan-favorite Getaway LTM is back in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2! Learn how to play, what’s changed, and when the mode ends. Don’t miss out on this action-packed event!
Originally introduced in Chapter 1 Season 5, The Getaway quickly became a fan-favorite mode, making another appearance in Season 8 with more High Stakes challenges. Now, after years of waiting, the mode is back in Chapter 6 Season 2, featuring revamped gameplay and new mechanics suited for the crime-filled Lawless season.
How to Play The Getaway LTM
Jumping into The Getaway mode is simple:
- Go to the Main Lobby Menu.
- Navigate to Discover.
- Select The Getaway.
- Hit Play to start.
Alternatively, you can use the search bar in the top left corner of the lobby menu—just type “The Getaway” to quickly find and launch the mode.
How The Getaway LTM Works
Just like in the original version, players must retrieve one of four Crystal Llamas (Jewels) scattered across the island to secure a win. To claim victory, you need to:
- Extract a Jewel using one of the three Getaway Vans placed around the map.
- Be one of the first three teams to reach a van and escape.
- Alternatively, eliminate all other teams for a classic Battle Royale win.
Winning in The Getaway also grants you valuable XP, helping you level up your Battle Pass progress.
New Changes for Chapter 6 Season 2
- Available in both Build and Zero Build modes.
- Supports Duos and Squads in Unranked and Ranked matches.
- Holding a Jewel has both risks and rewards:
- Slows your movement and reveals your location to enemies.
- Gradually restores your Health and Shield over time.
The Getaway LTM End Date
This limited-time mode will only be available until April 1, 2025, at:
- 9 PM PT
- 12 AM ET
- 4 AM GMT
The return of The Getaway was announced in the 34.10 patch notes, released on March 11 as part of Chapter 6 Season 2.
Other Updates in the 34.10 Patch
Alongside The Getaway, Fortnite has introduced:
- Pre-set Loadouts, similar to Call of Duty’s Warzone drops.
- These loadouts require Keycards to unlock and are tied to Outlaw quests.
