Fortnite v35.20 Downtime Set for May 29 as Galactic Battle Season Nears Its End

Fortnite v35.20 update arrives May 29 with final Star Wars content and major event setup.

Fortnite's latest season, Star Wars-themed with the subtitle Galactic Battle, is almost over. Epic Games officially confirmed that maintenance for the game's last update of this little mini-season—patch v35.20—will start on Thursday, May 29, at 4 AM ET. As always, matchmaking will be disabled about 30 minutes beforehand, providing players with until about 3:30 AM ET to get in one final match before the servers shut down.

The Galactic Battle season, which kicked off in early May, has provided players with a shorter-than-the-usual experience, lasting only 36 days. This time-limited format, colloquially described by the community as a "mini-season," is contrast to Fortnite's regular seasons, normally lasting for two to three months. In spite of its short duration, the season has maintained spectators' interest with its high-intensity Star Wars-themed experience, including characters and locations from the galaxy far, far away.

Unanswered Questions and Future Event
As the curtain is soon to close on Galactic Battle, fans have been wondering how this chapter will contribute to the overall story of Fortnite Chapter 6. Story Quests this season have been fairly enigmatic, providing little information regarding the Empire's arrival on the island or what it could potentially imply for the overall plot. Whether these loose ends will be resolved is unclear.

Yet, attention is already focused on what's next. A significant in-game event called Death Star Sabotage will be launching on June 7. Though there isn't much understood about the event, Epic will supposedly bring with the v35.20 patch the files it needs to release, which heightens anticipation among lore collectors and casual players alike. The event might offer some long-overdue answers—or at least position for what's to come in the following season.

Leaks and New Content on the Horizon

In addition to the event preparation, this update is also set to bring a number of new additions to Fortnite's vast world. As with every large patch—particularly one arriving just in time for the end of a season—leakers and dataminers in the community should find various teasers and pieces of content tucked away within the game files.

Rumors indicate the launch of Sith Rey-themed cosmetics, an in-game event with pop star Sabrina Carpenter, and even adding a Star Destroyer ship. There is also the increasing rumor about Chapter 6 Season 3 and the potential return of Fortnite OG content with Chapter 1 Season 4 elements. Leaks being true, fans are set to see a mix of old and new features compacted into the next content drop.

Friday and the subsequent weekend after this update could be particularly exciting for Fortnite fans. From discovering new skins, experimenting with revised items, and taking a jump into the last leg of the Star Wars crossover, gamers will have plenty to keep them occupied.

As Epic Games finishes plotting the next chapter, v35.20 is the final big milestone before Galactic Battle comes to a close. Downtime is imminent, so players are urged to complete any lingering quests and prepare for what may be a thrilling finale—and an even more thrilling start.
