Free Fire OB49 Update: SOLARA Map, Infinite Airdrops, & More

Garena has publicly announced that the Free Fire OB49 update is all set to take flight on May 21, 2025. This will be available to play only on the Indian server. Packed with some noteworthy features, performance improvements, and a new map, the update is all set to change the way players interact with the game.

Infinite Airdrops - Infinite Airdrops

The most notorious game-changer in the whole lot is the deployment of Infinite Airdrops. Now, there is no limit to refilling and claiming loot from airdrop crates. This, however, comes with an interesting twist; things that matter may stop appearing after you keep using them; hence, putting some strategy on your side in deciding what to pick up. All of these bring endless excitement to longer matches.

New Map: SOLARA, Performance, and Gameplay Improvements

Free Fire presents a brand new battleground, SOLARA. This colourful map offers varied topography, unique architectural regions, and interactive elements that facilitate innovative combat. The highlight addition is the Slider System, an advanced form of zip lines for quick travel, which provides numerous creative opportunities for surprising and flanking enemies or escaping.

Free Fire MAX players are able to push frame rates higher through an "Experimental Frame Rate Boost" setting in graphics settings for a fluid, immersive experience in gameplay. Then, an "Auto Switch Back to Weapon" setting will automatically bring your main weapon back into hand after setting gloo walls or grenades, allowing for seamless combat. 

Copy, Share Custom HUDS, & Custom Rooms Reimagined 

Customisation of the HUD just got easier. OB49 introduces a feature with which one can copy HUD settings from their friends or from pro players, or share their own layout with others. This is a huge boon for rookies, as well as competitive players striving to perfect their controls.

Old Custom Room Cards are a thing of the past. OB49 now allows players to host standard custom rooms at no cost, thereby easing the accessibility to private casual matches. To dive deeper in terms of advanced customisation in match rules and dynamics, Advanced Room Cards will still be available.
