The new mobile game of Game of Thrones, called Kingsroad, has released in May 2025 on iOS and Android devices, and many fans was excited. However, once it launched, not all the people was satisfied. The reviews come in, and they are very mixed. While some players liked it, others was not too happy with how it works.
Westeros in Your Pocket
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is strategy RPG mobile game that lets the players collect their favorite characters from the series. There’s Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Daenerys and many others. The story happens after the Iron Throne is already gone, and now players can do battle, manage kingdoms, and try to rule what’s left.
Gameplay have turn-based fighting, city building, and even battles with other real players online. Some players said the cutscenes are looking very good, almost like from the actual show, but the experience not always feels consistent.
Good Things They Said
One thing people saying is that the game is looking very beautiful. The character models and the music reminded them of HBO’s show. It is giving the same atmosphere like the series did. And also the new storyline is considered interesting by few fans who want more Game of Thrones world after the TV series ended.
Money Problems and Repeating Too Much
Even though it’s free, many reviewers is complaining about the way the game try to make them pay. To go forward faster, it’s almost like you need to spend real money. There is energy system that make you stop playing unless you wait or pay, and many strong characters are hard to get unless you buy loot boxes.
One reviewer on the Google Play store say, “You can’t keep going unless you pay. After few days I couldn’t progress anymore.” Also, many people said it becomes too repeating. After a while, you just do same type of mission again and again, and it don’t feel rewarding.
What People Think in General
By end of May 2025, the game is having around 4.5 stars on app stores, with more than 5 million downloads. It’s clear the fans was curious, but not everyone stays long.
It might get better if the developer changes some parts and listens to the players’ complaints. But for now, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is something that looks good but not always play good. Fans who love the world might enjoy it, but others might feel disappointed fast.
