Genshin Impact 5.5 Livestream Recap: New Characters, Region, Events, and More

HoYoverse has officially unveiled the content arriving with the Genshin Impact 5.5 update during the recent livestream event. The presentation highlighted an expansive new region in Natlan, fresh characters, and exciting events. Additionally, the developers shared three redeem codes offering free in-game rewards. Here’s a breakdown of everything revealed in the Genshin Impact 5.5 livestream.

New Characters

Two new playable characters will debut in the upcoming 5.5 update:

• Varesa (5-star, Electro): A Catalyst-wielding damage dealer, Varesa will be featured prominently in Phase 1 of the update’s event banners.
• Iansan (4-star, Electro): Armed with a Polearm, Iansan can both heal and enhance teammates' abilities, making her a valuable support character.

New Weapons

The update introduces a new 5-star Catalyst weapon called Vivid Notions, designed as Varesa’s signature weapon. It will be available during Phase 1 of the upcoming patch.

New Region: Collective of Plenty

Players can soon explore the long-awaited Collective of Plenty region in Natlan. This area encompasses volcanic landscapes and the Sacred City of Tollan, a site built by the ancient Dragonborn.

The region will feature new exploration challenges, including unique puzzles, the introduction of Tatankasaurs, and a new species known as Monetoos. Alongside these additions, players can expect new quests and lore expansions.

New Boss

A new world boss will be introduced in the Genshin Impact 5.5 update:

• Stone-Hearted Final Form of Flowing Flame: This powerful enemy promises an intense battle, likely tied to the new region’s storyline.

Event Wishes (Banners)

The upcoming patch will feature two phases of limited-time banners:

• Phase 1: Varesa, Xianyun, and Iansan
• Phase 2: Xilonen and Venti

These banners provide players the chance to obtain the new characters along with popular returning ones.

Upcoming Events

The highlight of the update, Tournament in Glory in Bloom, focuses on Ifa, who stages a special competition to gather Sacred Flame Crystals to rescue a young Teptelisaur. The contestants can receive numerous in-game rewards, such as a free version of Ororon and Primogems.

Additional limited-time events include:

• Quirky Quaky Arena
• Rhythm Ball Meztli
• Unlimited Fighting Championship
• Overflowing Favor: This event grants double Artifact rewards for a limited period.

The update also enhances ongoing features like Repertoire of Myriad Melodies and Genius Invocation TCG, with new content to keep players engaged.

New Artifacts

Two new Artifact sets will become available in Version 5.5:

• Long Night's Oath
• Finale of the Deep Galleries
• Each set will provide unique bonuses to enhance character performance in battle.

System Optimizations

Several quality-of-life improvements are coming to streamline gameplay:

• Artifacts upgraded with Sanctifying Elixir will receive two guaranteed substat enhancements of the player’s choice.
• The Treasure Compass will now detect additional chests and Monetoos in the new region.
• Improved navigation to bosses players can directly travel to any boss location by clicking on its map icon.
• An undisclosed enhancement to the mailing system is also planned.

The livestream provided three limited-time redemption codes offering valuable resources:

• GI55Teteocan – 100 Primogems, 10 Mystic Enhancement Ore
