Girls Band Cry returns to the spotlight in 2025 with two upcoming compilation films that bring the emotional, music-driven anime series to the big screen.

Toei Animation's anime Girls Band Cry is continuing with two compilation films. The story is about five girls who form a band to follow their dreams, while facing personal struggles. The two films will summarize the original 13 episodes with a new twist. Seishun Kyousoukyoku (Youth Rhapsody) will be released on October 3, 2025, and Naa, Mirai (Hey, the Future) will come out on November 14, 2025. These films are meant to build excitement and keep fans engaged as they wait for the next part of the story.

A Unique Approach to Expanding the Girls Band Cry Universe

The anime is about Nina Iseri, a high school dropout from the countryside, who moves to Tokyo to start fresh. After a tough first day, she meets her favorite guitarist, Momoka Kawaragi. They start a band and invite three more girls to join, each with their own hopes and struggles. Together, they grow through their shared love of music.

Though the series was popular, the upcoming films have created a lot of buzz. However, compilation films can be hit or miss. They usually repeat old scenes without much new stuff, which can be a bit disappointing. Some fans are concerned there won’t be new character development or plot progress. Still, many are hopeful the films might set the stage for a second season.

Compiling a Musical Journey

The anime is directed by Kazuo Sakai, with Jukki Hanada writing the series’ story. Nari Teshima designed the characters, and Kenji Tamai composed the music. The collaboration between these talents has resulted in great storytelling and a memorable soundtrack.

Fans are especially excited to learn more about Subaru Awa, the band’s drummer. Her background in performing arts and competitive nature have made her a standout. Many fans are hoping the films or future episodes will explore Subaru’s past and motivations more deeply.

What’s Next for Girls Band Cry Fans?

The two compilation films will revisit familiar storylines and set the stage for the future of “Girls Band Cry”. While a second season isn’t confirmed yet, the films are expected to excite fans and help raise funding for more episodes.

As “Girls Band Cry” heads toward its 2025 theater releases, fans can look forward to the music, drama, and emotional moments that made the show popular. Whether the films will bring new character developments is still unclear, but the anime’s journey shows there’s always more to explore in the world of music and friendship.

Ultimately, “Girls Band Cry” is more than just a band story. It’s about dreams, challenges, and how music brings people together. Fans can look forward to what’s next, knowing these films might be the start of something even bigger.
