Industry analysts predict that GTA 6 could launch at a record-breaking $100 price point. With Rockstar remaining silent, speculation grows over the game’s scale, demand, and potential in-game bonuses. Would you pay $100 for GTA 6?

Could GTA 6 Be the First $100 Base Game?

It’s been over a year since Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially revealed, and while Rockstar has remained silent, speculation surrounding its release date and pricing continues to grow.

The latest prediction comes from Michael Pachter, Managing Director of Equity Research at Wedbush Securities, who believes GTA 6 could cost at least $100 at launch.

“We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard-of price point,” Pachter stated in a research note highlighted by VGC. He added that Rockstar could justify the price by offering incentives, such as a large amount of in-game currency for GTA Online.

Why the Price Hike?

The idea of a $100 price tag for GTA 6 isn’t coming out of nowhere. Industry analysts have long speculated that Rockstar and Take-Two may set a new pricing precedent with the next GTA title, given:

  • The scale and ambition of the game
  • The potential for record-breaking demand
  • Previous industry shifts, like the move from $60 to $70 games

Pachter compared Rockstar’s approach to Call of Duty and Warzone, where integrating a live-service model with a premium game helped increase premium sales by 40%.

Additionally, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has hinted that the company aims to “deliver more value than what we charge”, suggesting that GTA 6’s price could reflect its massive scope and online integration.

Fans Grow Impatient Amid Rockstar’s Silence

Despite all the rumors and speculation, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about GTA 6, choosing to focus on GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 instead.

Fans are desperate for more updates, including the next trailer and any confirmation on pricing, editions, and pre-order details.

While $100 for a base game might seem extreme, it’s clear that the gaming industry is watching Rockstar closely—if GTA 6 launches at that price and sells well, other publishers may follow suit.

Would you pay $100 for GTA 6 if it came with bonus content? Or is that too steep?
