GTA 6’s Budget Surpasses Burj Khalifa: Justified or Too Much?

The tallest building in the world took 6 years and 1.5 billion dollars to make. To put that into perspective, an average minimum worker in the US would need to dedicate more than 99,000 years to earn that much. A grim reality for many. Yet, what happens when those numbers are broken by a single game? Let's get into it.

GTA’s Success

The GTA franchise has seen enormous success, with each game breaking norms in open world gaming. The bar just keeps getting higher. GTA 5 alone generated over a billion dollars just 3 days after its release. With such success, all eyes are on GTA 6 and with 2 billion dollars on the line- if GTA fails to deliver, the consequences would be devastating. The question then begins, for GTA 6 to invest so much money- where is it going?

Why is GTA 6’s Production Cost So High?

Rockstar is known for its attention to detail, so realism will be pushed to its limit. Npc’s will react in real-time, making a player experience the open world like never before. Due to this, voice actors will also be rewarded equally in retrospect. 

The city will also be bigger and more interactive. The environment is also expected to be more dynamic in nature, adding another layer to the game. The graphics and designs will thus be very detailed. Along with this, GTA 6 will also market itself to the extreme.

What Will The Cost Be To Buy GTA 6?

 

Rumours suggest that GTA 6 will cost around $100. While Rockstar has not commented or verified this information, many players have pointed out differing opinions. While players like XQC have defended the high price tag due to GTA 6’s expected quality. It poses a moral question- do regular players not deserve to play the game? Although the game is expected to be of exceptional quality, is it justified to spend so much on a single game- when people are struggling now, more than ever, to even buy groceries?  

So, while all these costs do add up, does it justify GTA 6’s budget and price tag? Even Avengers: Endgame- one of the highest movies ever made, only cost around $356 million to make. So GTA 6 needs to prove itself to be more than just a game- it needs to cement itself as a game changer. Failure is not an option and if GTA 6 cannot fulfill its mark then Rockstars reputation will be damaged permanently.
