When it comes to build-up play, you’re deciding how fast your team moves the ball, how far they pass, and their general mentality. But if you’re looking to counter quickly, increasing the speed and passing distance will help you break quickly.

For offense, this section controls how your team creates chances. Are they crossing the ball often, or making runs through the defense with through balls? You can even adjust how often they take shots and from where. If you’re a fan of long-range shots, make sure to tweak this setting.

Lastly, defense is where you can control how aggressive your team is when pressing the opponent. You can set the pressure level, how aggressive your tackles are, and the width of your defensive line. A higher defensive line puts pressure on the opponent, while a deeper line can help you counter better when playing on the back foot.

Choosing the Appropriate Formation

Selecting the optimal formation is most important in executing your tactics. A 4-3-3 Attack, for instance, will suit if you wish to play on the wings and encourage your full-backs to make attacking runs. If you like a balanced system, then perhaps the 4-2-3-1 Wide would suit you better. However, the 3-5-2 formation provides greater midfield control and is ideal if you wish to interchange between attacking and defending.
