Learn how to create custom VALORANT games with friends in this step-by-step guide. Set your own rules, invite your squad, and explore fun or competitive setups. Take full control of your VALORANT experience with custom lobbies.
In VALORANT, we all can agree that some of the most memorable matches don’t happen in ranked or unrated; they happen in custom games with friends where there is no pressure, no strangers, just a group of people doing exactly what they want. This could be a serious 5v5 scrim, a chaotic knife-only free-for-all, or just a place to test out a new lineup.
Custom games give you full control: pick the map, adjust the settings, balance the teams, or turn the rules upside down. It’s one of the best ways to enjoy the game. That is why this guide breaks down how to create your own custom VALORANT lobby, invite friends, and tweak the settings to get the experience just right.
How To Make Custom VALORANT Games With Friends
Step 1: Launch VALORANT and Log In
First thing first, start by opening VALORANT and logging into your Riot account like you normally would. Wait until you’re on the main menu screen.
Step 2: Create a Custom Game Lobby
- Click on the Play button at the top center of the screen.
- In the mode selection section, click on Custom Game.
- This will open a lobby where you can customize teams, maps, and game rules.
Step 3: Invite Your Friends
- On the right side of the screen, you’ll see your friends list.
- Click the “+” icon next to any friend’s name to invite them to your custom lobby.
- You can fill up both Team 1 and Team 2, or even leave spots open for your other friends who can join as spectators.
Step 4: Customize the Settings
You can click the “Options” button (gear icon) to customize your custom match the way you want it should be:
- Map: You can choose from any available VALORANT maps.
- Mode: Although the default is standard, you can also do Spike Rush or Deathmatch.
- Allow Cheats: Enable this if you want to practice with teleportation, infinite ammo, or other tools.
- Overtime Rules: Decide how rounds play out if there’s a tie.
- Play Out All Rounds: Useful if you are practicing for scrims.
Once your lobby is filled and your settings are ready, click Start at the bottom of the screen. VALORANT will launch the game like any normal match.
