How You Can Earn Revenue Through Gaming Streaming on YouTube

Discover how to earn money as a gaming content creator on YouTube and other platforms. Learn about Super Chats, ad revenue, brand deals, memberships, and more strategies to build a successful career in gaming.

Gaming has transformed from just a hobby into a full-fledged career, with creators earning significant amounts through live streaming. While big-name streamers rake in money through multiple sources, even smaller channels can generate decent revenue with the right strategy. Here’s a breakdown of how YouTube and other streaming platforms can help you make money as a gaming content creator.

1. Super Chat – Direct Donations from Fans

If you’ve ever watched a YouTube livestream, you’ve probably noticed colorful messages pinned at the top of the chat. That’s Super Chat, YouTube’s donation feature that allows viewers to pay to highlight their messages during a livestream.

Many big gaming YouTubers, like Scout, Mortal, and Jonathan Gaming, have earned lakhs of rupees in mere minutes through Super Chat, thanks to their massive and engaged fanbases. However, Super Chat earnings depend entirely on audience loyalty—so the stronger your connection with your viewers, the more likely they are to donate.

One crucial thing to remember: YouTube takes a 30% cut from Super Chats. So, if you receive ₹100 in donations, you’ll get ₹70 after YouTube’s deduction.

2. Ad Revenue – Earnings from Views

Another common revenue source is ad revenue. When you upload a video on YouTube, ads are shown before, during, or after the content. You earn money based on how many people watch the ads and interact with them.

However, ad revenue varies significantly depending on location. The CPM (Cost Per 1,000 Views) rates for gaming content are quite low in India compared to Western countries. Here’s a comparison:

  • USA CPM: $8–$12
  • UK CPM: $6–$10
  • India CPM: $0.50–$1.50

This means if a US-based YouTuber gets 1 million views, they could earn $8,000–$12,000 (₹6.5 lakh–₹10 lakh). But in India, the same video might make just ₹40,000–₹1,20,000. That’s why many Indian gaming YouTubers focus on global audiences or use other income streams alongside ad revenue.

3. Brand Deals and Sponsorships

Once a gaming channel gains popularity, brands start taking notice. Companies approach YouTubers to promote their products—whether it’s a gaming laptop, a new game, or even in-game skins.

These collaborations can involve:

  • Shoutouts: Mentioning the brand during a video or livestream.
  • Logo Placements: Displaying the brand’s logo on the screen during streams.
  • Sponsored Gameplay: Playing and reviewing a particular game for money.

Brand deals can be a major income source for gaming creators. Big YouTubers like CarryMinati and Techno Gamerz earn crores annually just from brand collaborations.

4. Channel Memberships and Merchandise

Many streamers also use channel memberships, where fans pay a monthly fee (₹29–₹1,199) to unlock perks like:

  • Custom emojis
  • Exclusive livestreams
  • Early access to videos

Gaming creators also make money by selling merchandise—T-shirts, hoodies, mousepads, and more—featuring their brand or catchphrases. This adds another layer of income beyond YouTube’s monetization features.

How Much Can a Gaming YouTuber Earn?

There’s no fixed number, but if you’re a gaming YouTuber with 1 million+ subscribers, you can earn anywhere between ₹5 lakh–₹10 lakh per month through YouTube revenue streams. And this is just the base level—creators with millions of followers can earn ₹50 lakh+ per month, depending on their engagement and sponsorships.

Final Thoughts: Build, Engage, and Monetize

YouTube gaming content creation isn’t just about playing games—it’s about building a community. The more engaged your audience is, the more they will support you through Super Chats, memberships, brand deals, and merch sales.

If you’re serious about making money as a gaming YouTuber, focus on consistent content, community engagement, and brand collaborations. With the right mix of these revenue streams, you can turn gaming into a full-time career—just like I did.
