The 2025 League of Legends World Championship promises to be massive in scale and popularity. Riot Games has confirmed four major cities in China will host the tournament from October 14 until the finals match on November 9 in Chengdu.
Additionally, this year's tournament is noteworthy because it marks the 15th anniversary of competitive League of Legends, which should excite the fans even more.
Worlds 2025: Top Teams from Around the World Compete
The LOL Championship, also known as the "Worlds,” is the biggest event on the League of Legends competitive calendar. It is an international event featuring the best teams from all over the world competing for the famous Summoner's Cup and cash prizes, fame, and a place in esports history.
There will be 17 teams total, all from the leagues representing Korea (LCK), China (LPL), Europe (LEC), the Pacific (PCS), and the Americas (LCO).
Korea and China are each sending four teams because of their respective performances at the Mid-Season Invitational, while the other regions will send one less, hoping we will see all teams raised to the upper echelon of competition.
City-Wise Schedule & Venue Details
The tournament will be held across four Chinese cities, with each stage hosted in a different location.

Play-In Stage (Oct 14) – Starts in Beijing at the Smart Esports Center, where fourth-seeded teams from China and Korea battle in a best-of-five. Winners move to the next round.

Swiss Stage (Oct 15–25)— Also in Beijing, 16 teams compete in a Swiss-style format based on win-loss records, leading to dynamic matchups.

Knockout Stage (Oct 28–Nov 2)—Held in Shanghai at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. It’s a single-elimination round with best-of-five matches. For the first time, quarters and semis happen on back-to-back days.

Finals (Nov 9) – The championship wraps up in Chengdu at Dong’an Lake Sports Park, where 18,000 fans will witness the crowning of the 2025 world champion.
