Mario Kart World Version 1.1.2 is live with better matchmaking, item adjustments, bug fixes, and improved performance across tracks and controls.
Nintendo went and dropped an update to Mario Kart World to Version 1.1.2. Without any new characters or tracks included, it's still a useful update that fixes a lot of things people were having issues with. It was released on June 25, 2025, and this version basically improves stability and does some patching in and around gameplay.
Online Mode and Matchmaking Changes
The main thing here is about online racing and matchmaking. Before, sometimes races weren't starting for a very long time, or players were getting matched in weird ways. Now they attempted to make that system smoother.
Matchmaking became a bit quicker, and races began sooner, too. Also, people who were having issues getting kicked from the race in the middle, especially in ranked matches, may notice this problem less. Though some disconnections may still occur, it shouldn't be as terrible as before
Tweaks to Gameplay and Item Use
Some of the power-up items were making the race uneven beforehand. So now the Blue Shell and Lightning Bolt aren't showing up as much, mainly when there are fewer players in the lobby. That's done to keep races more balanced.
They also tweaked the frequency of the Bullet Bill showing up. If you are in mid-position, don't expect to get it much now. It will help those who are quite behind more than others. And also, characters like Toad and Baby Peach, who were having too fast acceleration, got tweaked so they now play on par with the rest.
Bugs and Track Problems Fixes
Some courses had issues that annoyed players. For example, the glitch shortcut on Rainbow Circuit was removed, so that can't be done anymore. On Shy Guy Bazaar, in reverse mode, the camera was acting strangely, but now it's fine.
And in Neo Bowser City, the anti-gravity drifting was a bit broken. That's fixed as well. These changes make gameplay more balanced on various maps.
User Interface and Control Stuff
Some other minor changes were also included. UI is now a bit cleaner, and lap counters, which were not always accurate on mirror tracks, are now showing correctly. Players playing wirelessly with Joy-Con may feel a better response on turning and drifting, too, although it's not a night-and-day difference.
So yes, Mario Kart World Version 1.1.2 may not look big at first glance, but it improves enough things to make a difference. The game is now smoother and more reliable, especially for online mode. Nintendo also teased new content possibly coming in the next update, so let's wait and see.
