Marvel Rivals has made a strong impact in its first two seasons, launching with over 30 playable characters across the Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist roles. The game also introduced Competitive Play early on, allowing players to rank up and earn seasonal rewards once they reach Player Level 10.
As players spend more time in both Quick Match and Competitive Play, they may notice a mechanic called "Ace." If you've seen this term appear but aren't sure what it means, here’s a full breakdown of how it works.
What is "Ace" in Marvel Rivals?
Ace can appear in two different ways during a match:
- Team Fight Ace
- Team Ace Indicator
Each serves a different purpose, but both highlight strong performances in a match.
1. Team Fight Ace
A Team Fight Ace happens when your team eliminates the entire enemy team in quick succession. This is similar to the "Team Kill!" callout in Overwatch.
- When your team gets an Ace, a special graphic appears on the screen.
- Players can unlock custom hero graphics for these Ace moments through the Proficiencies system.
If you hear a teammate say, "We got an Ace," it means the entire enemy team was wiped out at once.
2. Team Ace Indicator
The Team Ace Indicator highlights the top-performing player on each team during a match.
- The best-performing player on each team receives an "Ace" banner on their icon.
- At the end of the match:
- The winning team's Ace becomes the MVP.
- The losing team's Ace becomes the SVP (Second Best Player).
This title can change multiple times throughout a match as different players step up.
How Do You Become a Team Ace?
To earn the Team Ace title, players need to perform well in key areas. Some of the main factors include:
- Most Damage Blocked (Vanguard role)
- Most Damage Dealt (Duelist role)
- Most Assists (Strategist role)
- Most Healing
- Least Deaths
- Multi-Kills (three or more eliminations in quick succession)
Since Ace rankings can shift during a match, players should focus on their role rather than chasing the title.
Ace: A Fun Recognition, Not a Game-Changer
Ace is purely for recognition. It does not provide any gameplay advantages but serves as a way to highlight top players in a match. It functions similarly to a "Play of the Game" moment, adding an extra layer of excitement without influencing the actual competition.
While it feels rewarding to see your name as the Ace, the main goal should always be contributing to your team and enjoying the game.
