Marvel Rivals: How to Trigger Recursive Destruction?

With the Recursive Destruction mechanic found in Marvel Rivals, players can bring dynamic changes into their gameplay strategy.

As one of the latest mechanics introduced in Marvel Rivals, Recursive Destruction allows players to rebuild specific structures, offering tactical advantages and altering the flow of battles. Introduced in Season 1, this mechanic is exclusive to the Midtown map and can be a game-changer once mastered. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to trigger Recursive Destruction.

Understanding Recursive Destruction

Recursive Destruction allows players to reset destructible environments to their original state. When these structures are found and damaged by players, the environment can be reset, opening up new vantage points and altering key chokeholds.

Steps to Trigger Recursive Destruction

  • Select Midtown Map: Recursive Destruction is only available on the Midtown map. Make sure this one is selected in Quick Play or Competitive modes.
  • Identify Eligible Structures: Identifying the right structures is critical to unleashing Recursive Destruction. Utilize the Chrono Vision ability to reveal destructible objects. On console controllers, use the 'B' key on your keyboard, or the right button on your D-pad. Recursive Destruction-eligible objects will show up in red, while generic destructible objects will be tinted yellow.
  • Reach Necessary Checkpoints: Recursive Destruction can be triggered only after reaching certain checkpoints on the Midtown map. Damaging the structures before reaching these points will have no effect. There are two main locations to remember:
  • Central Station: A pile of rubble inside the station becomes accessible after the first checkpoint is reached.
  • Collapsed Buildings: These are available after the second checkpoint.
  • Deal Damage to Trigger Destruction: Once the eligible structures are identified and checkpoints are cleared, start attacking these red-glowing objects. Keep inflicting damage until the objects start to regenerate. You’ll notice the broken objects and rubble start to float, indicating that the Recursive Destruction process has begun.

Strategic Advantages of Recursive Destruction

Mastering Recursive Destruction can greatly affect the course of battle. Here's how you can shift the battle in your favour:

  • Create or Remove Cover: By rebuilding structures, you can create new cover for your team or remove enemy cover, altering the tactical landscape.
  • Alter Pathways: Change the layout of the map by restoring key structures to create new routes or block enemy paths.
  • Dominate Chokeholds: Reset destructible environments to secure major choke points, granting your team a tactical advantage.

With the Recursive Destruction mechanic found in Marvel Rivals, players can bring dynamic changes into their gameplay strategy. The ability to rebuild environments provides a tactile and strategic dimension that can turn the tide in battles. Practice identifying and triggering these changes to master your gameplay on the Midtown map.
