Marvel Rivals Introduces New Shader Compilation Feature to Boost Performance on Low-End PCs

Marvel Rivals is gearing up for its Season 2 update, set to go live on April 11, with a major performance-focused addition: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. This experimental feature is aimed at resolving persistent stuttering and crashes reported by players using PCs with 16GB of RAM or less.

A Solution for Memory-Related Lag

Since launch, many users have encountered performance drops during matches, often caused by high memory usage. In such cases, PCs are forced to rely on swap memory, leading to input lag, frame drops, or even game crashes. To counter this, the new shader compilation mode offers a smarter way of handling graphical processing.Once enabled via the PC launcher, the feature limits shader compilation to only the first game launch after a version or driver update. As a result, in-game memory consumption is significantly lowered, reducing the chances of visual freezes and frame rate instability.

What Players Can Expect

• While the feature promises smoother performance, a few trade-offs remain:
• Some textures may briefly appear incorrect when a new match begins but will correct themselves within a few frames.
• Minor stutters may occur when rendering materials for the first time.
• Systems with six or fewer CPU threads may experience added stutters if this mode is used alongside AMD FSR3 Frame Generation.

Players with less powerful systems are encouraged to activate this feature, especially if they’ve struggled with crashes or severe FPS drops in earlier versions. Developer support remains available to assist with any technical difficulties following the update.
