Marvel Rivals' new Blood Soldier Winter Soldier and Blood Kariudo Psylocke skins have sparked mixed reactions.
The recent skin drop in Marvel Rivals featuring the vampiric Blood Soldier Winter Soldier and Blood Kariudo Psylocke has fans buzzing. While the skins' vampiric aesthetic is generally well-received, some players immediately pointed out the striking similarities between Bucky Barnes' Blood Soldier and Nero from Devil May Cry. From the same colored hair and mechanical arm to a similar trench coat, the resemblance is hard to ignore.
Community Reactions
Excitement around the skins was evident on Twitter and Reddit, with some fans embracing the new designs with playful comments like “Purrrr, I'd like to see how armed and dangerous he really is 😏” and “Bucky is giving dude from Devil May Cry vibes… niiice.” Others, however, were less enthusiastic, sharing their disappointment.
One fan tweeted, “I was waiting for a Bucky skin, but...this isn’t Bucky. His hair is different—both color and style—and he has no mask. I actually like the Psylocke one, so I’m all in for new skinlines outside of comics lore, but I gotta say I am pretty disappointed in this one.” This sentiment was echoed by many others, with some even suggesting changes like, “He should either have longer hair, a mask, or his hair should be black with a white streak. This is just younger Magneto wearing a trench coat.”
Some fans felt frustrated with the lack of originality, with one commenting, “Tired of generic video game cool guy skins. We got a dozen people in here saying he looks like a different generic cool guy from another IP.” Another fan raised a valid point, questioning, “As cool as some of the OG skins are, give me Marvel skins. It's a Marvel game. Not some random IP game. I'm not asking for comic accuracy (though that would be good), but at least make it feel like the Winter Soldier and not ‘Is that Magneto with a prosthetic arm and trenchcoat?’”

The Verdict
While there’s no doubt that the new skins have their appeal, many fans are calling for more creativity and authenticity, especially when it comes to iconic Marvel characters. It remains to be seen whether the developers will respond to these criticisms, but players are hopeful for more comic-accurate designs in the future. Stay tuned for updates!
