Marvel Rivals Season 3: Chaos Phoenix Skin Breakdown & Gameplay Details

NetEase has released dynamite gameplay on the new ChaosPhoenix skin in Marvel Rivals, and it has been eyeing the fire-based transformation of Jean Grey in Season 3 lead update. Released on July 11, this much-awaited cosmetics expansion brings another jolting dimension to the armory of the mighty Duelist.

This is because the transformation of skin in the showcase video is rather spectacular: purple and red flames whirling around Jean Grey, with her head same attracting attention because it resembles the one worn by Scarlet Witch, draws both admiration and criticism among viewers. The premium bundle is completed by the following animation, emote, and nameplate that accompany the MVP. It costs 2,200 Lattice.

As far as gameplay is concerned, Chaos Phoenix releases her full potential through signature skills with added flame dramaticism. She retains her signature teleport/dodge ability and vertical movement, but now gives a fiery path in her wake which visually supports her punishing area-of-effect burst effect. Her ultimate, Endsong Inferno, is particularly interesting as she is visibly disrupting other ultimates, and further reinforcing her being the top of the team engagements.

This skin does not only enhance her visual identity; it also goes hand-in-hand with her career-oriented set of tools. Her package is still based on using deadly Spark stacks that explode after some time to harm enemies and restore health to Phoenix. Particularly, the synergy, titled Primal Flame (with Wolverine), receives a redesigning touch, and the fire-based combos become even more burning.

The response of the community has been sporadic. As much as fans love the brash look and the extra slickness, a more traditional comic-accurate uniform, say some fans on Reddit, would be more fitting of the history of the character. One consumer joked the issue is it is a fashion mess and that he/she was sad that there were no iconic versions such as Goblin Queen or Dark Phoenix 

Regarding the style, the views are split, but there is still one common point to be made: Chaos Phoenix is not only cosmetics but also a statement. Preliminary testing reveals she can redefine the meta due to unrivaled burst and mobility and only further proves that she is one of the most impressive Duelists to date.
