Marvel Rivals Unveils Ultron Battle Matrix Protocol Mode with Strategic Auto-Battler Gameplay

NetEase Games is preparing to introduce a new mode called "Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol" in Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter game. Expected to begin on June 6, 2025 and conclude on June 23, the mode gives players a distinctive Marvel-based auto-battler.

The players manage their Ultron drone, work together to form a group of heroes and join battles planned strategically. Every time you play a round, you can increase your heroes’ powers by using cards which helps you adjust your strategy and be flexible. You can play with up to six people, making different heroes and builds to fight others for the top spot.

Guangyun ‘GuangGuang’ Chen, the Creative Director, sees this mode as a way to let players experience their Marvel Super Heroes working together in creative formations. Because it has aspects from auto-battlers, the mode pushes people to discover different ways heroes can combine and help each other.

Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol comes with the Season 2.5 update which also allows Ultron to be chosen as a character. Ultron can fly, launch energy beams and offer healing which is also true for heroes like Iron Man and Storm. The update improves Team-Up Abilities by including new types and removing some from the game to provide more variety in play.

As a limited-time offering for now, some suspect it may become permanent, based on what players think of it. Taking as an example successful auto-battler modes that started as game elements and became standalone games, Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol could open up new players and experiences for Marvel Rivals.
