Marvel Rivals has built a solid rep for handing out free rewards, from Iron Man’s Armor Model 42 skin to Twitch Drops and ranked rewards. But this latest giveaway for Valentine’s Day has fans less than thrilled.
A Special Wedding Anniversary Bundle—With Strings Attached
To celebrate Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman’s 60th Wedding Anniversary, devs are offering a free skin bundle. Sounds great, right? Well, there’s a catch.
Players need to join a Quick Match during a specific time window and have a featured streamer in their lobby. Depending on your region or server, this might make getting the skins way harder than it should be.
Déjà Vu? Players Have Seen This Before
This isn’t the first time Marvel Rivals has done something like this. Back in the beta, they ran a similar event where you could earn an exclusive Galactic Glories spray, but only if you played in a match with a dev.
The result?
- Frustrated players who had to rely on pure luck.
- Mass leavers and AFK teammates quitting as soon as they didn’t see a dev in the match.
- Ruined match quality with people caring more about farming rewards than actually playing.
Fans are already convinced history is about to repeat itself.

For now, though, players are hoping Marvel Rivals rethinks this approach. After all, what’s the point of a free event if it’s this much work to participate?
