MindsEye Launch Struggles with Glitches and Poor Performance, Fixes Incoming

MindsEye, the new game from Build A Rocket Boy, it's finally here—but not how fans were expecting. The release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series was met with a lot of issues, some even call it broken. On Steam, reviews turned “Mostly Negative,” with people complaining from almost everywhere. NPCs fly, cars go boom without reason, and faces in the game look wrong. This is not what many were hoping for from the ex-Rockstar president’s team.

Strong Machines, Weak Performance

Even players who own high-end PCs are not having a good time. Frame rates drop hard, textures load weird, and stuttering comes often. On consoles, it gets locked to only 30 fps, which feels old-school in a bad way.

Story’s There, But It's Lost

The story, some say it could have been interesting—AI, humans, some big moral things—but no one was able to enjoy it properly because of bugs and crashes. When the game stops working every few minutes, even the good voice acting can't be noticed properly. There is a world here that might have been deep, but who really knows if you can’t get through a mission.

Studio Drama Behind the Scenes

Right before launch, big people left the studio, like the CFO and legal officer. That doesn’t happen for nothing. And guess what? Review copies didn’t go to the media early. Many now believe they tried hiding the state of the game until it was too late. It’s not a good sign when a game hides from the press right before it drops.

Patch Drops, But Not For Everyone

There was a patch on day one. But Xbox folks, they had to wait longer than PC and PS5. It included “improvements,” like better visuals and fixed crashes, but many didn’t notice the difference. Co-CEO Mark Gerhard posted online that some of the bad reviews may be part of a smear plan. He blamed "paid actors" for some of the reactions, but most players just were not buying that excuse.

What Now?

Many players are refunding. At $60, MindsEye doesn’t feel worth it now. Other games, like Clair Obscur and Kingdom Come II, had smoother launches. MindsEye feels half-baked in comparison.

But still, maybe there’s hope. If Build A Rocket Boy works fast and fixes what’s broken, maybe story and world will shine. But if not, MindsEye could be remembered as another game that promised big, but launched small.
