Negative CP in CODM: What It Is and How to Keep Your Account Safe

Learn about negative CP in CODM, why it happens, and how to avoid it. Keep your account in the clear and enjoy spending CP without unexpected surprises!

In Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM), COD Points (CP) are the game’s premium currency used for purchasing exclusive in-game items, such as weapon skins, operator skins, and other cosmetics. Players usually buy CP through authorized in-game purchases or promotional offers. However, instances of "negative CP" have been reported among players, leading to confusion and concern. Here’s a breakdown of what negative CP means, why it happens, and how to address it.

What Does Negative CP Mean?

Negative CP occurs when a player’s CP balance falls below zero. When this happens, a player effectively owes CP to the game. This can restrict further spending in-game until the player’s balance is topped up back to a positive amount. The restriction prevents players from making purchases with CP until their account balance is restored.

Why Does Negative CP Happen?

Negative CP can result from a few specific scenarios, including refunds and unauthorized CP purchases. Here’s a closer look at the causes:

  1. Refunds on Purchased CP
If a player initiates a refund for a CP purchase, Call of Duty: Mobile deducts the refunded amount from their in-game CP balance. If the balance doesn’t contain enough CP to cover the refund, it goes negative. The full amount of the refunded CP is deducted, regardless of the player’s current CP balance, which can lead to a negative balance.

For instance, if a player had 500 CP, requested a refund for 1,000 CP, and the refund was approved, their balance would become -500 CP. This effectively places them in CP debt until they top up their account.

  2. CP Obtained Through Unauthorized Means
In some cases, players acquire CP through third-party sellers or exploit loopholes. These methods are against the game’s policies, and if detected, the game penalizes the player by deducting CP from their balance. If the CP spent on premium items was acquired illegally, CODM may reduce the CP balance to a negative amount to discourage such actions.

  3. Refund Loopholes
Occasionally, players find and exploit refund loopholes to get CP or in-game purchases without payment. Activision has implemented measures to close these loopholes, and players caught using them may find their account in negative CP until they "repay" the game through additional CP top-ups.

CODM's Official Stance on Negative CP

In response to cases of negative CP, the Call of Duty: Mobile team has emphasized that refunds or CP gained through unauthorized means will result in a negative balance. Here’s the official policy on negative CP:

"When a refund for CP is processed, the full amount of the refunded CP will be deducted from your CP balance. If your CP balance is less than the amount of the CP refund, your account will reflect a negative CP balance. You will only be able to spend CP again after topping up the CP in your account to return to a positive CP balance."

In other words, CODM requires players to cover the negative balance with additional CP top-ups before they can continue making in-game purchases.

How to Get Your CP Balance Out of the Red

Alright, so you’re stuck with a negative CP balance, and you want to fix it. Here’s what you do:

  1. Top Up Your CP Balance
Yep, it’s that simple! Just head over to the in-game shop and buy enough CP to bring your balance back to zero or higher. This might feel a bit like bailing out your account, but it’s the only way to get back to spending CP.

  2. Stick to Legit CP Purchases
Lesson learned: stay away from the “too good to be true” CP deals. Just buy your CP directly from CODM — no sketchy websites, no side hustles. This way, you won’t risk CODM swiping your hard-earned CP back to balance things out.

  3. Think Twice About Refunds
If you’ve already spent the CP, requesting a refund will almost definitely leave you with a negative balance. Just know what you’re getting into, and if you can live with the purchase, maybe skip the refund.

How to Keep it Positive (Your Balance, That Is)

So now you know that negative CP is totally a thing, but it’s avoidable. Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll never have to worry about your CP balance slipping into the red:

  • Only Buy CP from CODM Directly
Dodging the shady deals will keep your CP legit and save you from any future headaches.

  • Watch Out for Refund Requests
If you’re tight on CP, requesting a refund could throw your balance into negative. Know the risks!

  • Stick to the Rules
CODM’s pretty strict about keeping the in-game economy fair, so if you play by the rules, you’re all set.

Negative CP is CODM’s way of saying, “You owe us some points, buddy!” It may sound scary, but as long as you keep your purchases above board and top up when needed, it’s totally manageable. So go out there, get that CP, and keep your balance positive, my friend!
