Netflix is about to drop Moonrise, a new Japanese sci-fi anime, on April 10, 2025. It’s made with WIT Studio and based on a novel by well-known author Tou Ubukata. Moonrise Plot: A Sci-Fi War Between Earth and the Moon

The anime is about a future war between Earth and the Moon, with themes of rebellion, fate, and mystery. In this world, a powerful AI named Sapientia controls everything and keeps peace by sending criminals and pollution to the Moon. Life on the Moon is tough, and over time, the people there start to fight back. The story follows Jacob “Jack” Shadow, who joins Earth’s army after his family is killed in a rebel attack. He’s sent to the Moon as a scout and ends up meeting an important rebel leader.

Creative Team and Visual Style

The anime is directed by Masashi Koizuka, who directed the Attack on Titan seasons 2 and 3. Hiromu Arakawa created the characters, while Ayumi Yamada did adaptations of the characters for the purposes of animation. The music is by Ryo Kawasaki. WIT Studio is handling the animation, so it’s expected to look great. To build more excitement, some character art by animation director Satoshi Kadowaki was shared earlier, giving fans a sneak peek at the show’s detailed and expressive style. These early previews showed how well the visuals fit the story.
