Ninja Calls Out Fortnite Devs for Overlooking Him: "Lowkey Insulted"

Fortnite’s return to its nostalgic OG era was a massive moment in gaming, bringing back classic maps and weapons that reignited excitement among players. The overwhelming success was expected, with nostalgia fueling engagement. However, while Epic Games enlisted several content creators to promote the event, one key figure was noticeably absent—Tyler "Ninja" Blevins.
Ninja’s Impact on Fortnite
Few names are as synonymous with Fortnite as Ninja. From his iconic streams to dominating competitive play, he played a major role in the game’s rise to prominence. Despite his contributions, he was left out of Epic Games' sponsored promotions for Fortnite OG—something he wasn’t happy about.
During a recent Twitch stream, the 33-year-old streamer revealed that while other top creators like CourageJD and TimTheTatman were paid to promote the event, he wasn’t even contacted.
“I’m pretty sure Courage, Tim, and a couple of other people got sponsored paid Fortnite ads to come back and play OG Fortnite,” Ninja stated.
He admitted he initially expected Epic Games to reach out but was surprised when the invite never came.
“I was like, dude… let’s see if they’d reach out to us. But they didn’t. I’m one of the only big streamers still playing Fortnite, and because I’m already playing it, you’re going to pay a bunch of people to come back for just a couple of hours?”
A Pattern of Being Overlooked?
This isn’t the first time Ninja has been sidelined by Epic Games. Back in 2020, Dr Disrespect questioned why Marshmello received a Fortnite skin before Ninja and Tfue, despite Ninja’s major influence in the game's early days.
While Ninja eventually got his own skin in January 2020 as part of the Icon Series, it arrived years after his peak popularity. This recent exclusion has reignited conversations about whether Epic Games undervalues Ninja’s contributions, despite the company’s heavy reliance on community-driven engagement.

Will Epic Games Respond?
As of February 18, 2025, Epic Games has yet to address Ninja’s comments publicly. While he has confirmed he isn’t quitting Fortnite, it’s clear he feels slighted by the decision. Whether Epic will acknowledge the issue or ignore it remains to be seen—but it certainly raises questions about how the company handles its long-time creators.
