Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound arrives July 31, 2025, featuring dual protagonists, pixel art combat, and a fresh chapter in the iconic ninja saga.
The very known Ninja Gaiden game series is coming back with a new title called Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, and it’s being developed by The Game Kitchen (who did Blasphemous) with Dotemu publishing it. According to the announcement, the release date is now official: it will come out on July 31, 2025. Players can play it on PC, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and also Xbox One.
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound: Trying to Combine Old Style with Modern Stuff
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is mostly made like the old-school versions but then, new mechanics are also there. Two characters will be playable: Kenji Mozu (he is ninja from Hayabusa Clan) and Kumori (she belongs to Black Spider Clan). These two who are normally rivals are working together now because of a demon invasion. The game added the “Ninja Fusion” system, which lets players combine their abilities into stronger moves. Sometimes it looks retro, sometimes very modern.
Story Goes Forward From NES Days
Story continues after what happened in original NES Ninja Gaiden. Ryu Hayabusa went to America because of his father’s will. While he’s gone, the demon and human worlds got connected and now village is under attack. Kenji must save it and needs to work with Kumori, even though their clans are not friendly. They are even using forbidden powers, which is normally not allowed. Story feels familiar, but more dark now.

Looks and Sounds: It’s Like Old But Not the Same
The game uses pixel graphics but not like old 8-bit. It looks better and is very detailed. Fans of old art will still enjoy it. Music is also made special. Sergio de Prado, who did the music for Blasphemous, is doing this soundtrack too. But the surprise is that Keiji Yamagishi, Ryuichi Niita, and Kaori Nakabai (who made music for the original games) are working together on some tracks. The music feels nostalgic and also new at the same time.
You Can Try It Before Release (But Just A Bit)
From June 9 to June 16, during Steam Next Fest, a demo will be playable. People can try the early part of the game with both Kenji and Kumori playable. Combat is fast, platforming tricky, and if you like old Ninja Gaiden, maybe you like this one too.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound wants to give challenge and action like it was before, but also give something new. Fans who waited long are probably excited, and newcomers might also try. The release on July 31, 2025, is not far now
