Nintendo releases Mario Kart World update 1.1.1 for Switch 2, fixing online crashes, item glitches, and matchmaking issues. No new content added yet.
Nintendo has now released the patch update 1.1.1 for Mario Kart World, and players who were facing issues will probably notice a difference. This one comes out on June 17, 2025, and mostly focuses on bugs and errors that were affecting gameplay and the online racing part.
Nintendo Rolls Out Mario Kart World Patch 1.1.1
This update is more important than maybe others because Mario Kart World is one of the biggest titles for Switch 2, and people have been having problems from the start. If you are not installing it, you won’t be able to play online matches or access things like Knockout Tour, which kinda makes the game feel half complete. It’s about time Nintendo fixed these.
How to Update Nintendo Mario Kart World Patch 1.1.1
So, for downloading this patch, you do not need to do complicated steps. Just follow these types of instructions:
-
Your Switch 2 must be connected to a working internet connection.
-
Choose the game on the home screen, then press either the + or – button.
-
From the options, pick Software Update, and then “Via Internet.”
-
You can also open the game directly, which sometimes asks you for an update.
The update is downloading quickly for some, but others report slow speeds. It depends.
The Things That Got Fixed in Patch 1.1.1
In the patch notes, which Nintendo posted, these main fixes are now included:
-
Items that do not appear or can’t be used midrace? Now working again.
-
There was a bug where controls just didn’t respond after choosing the driver — this is also fixed.
-
Some people see the game crash when watching replays, which should stop now.
-
The game just randomly shut off after the online race. That’s fixed.
-
Rankings and rating scores in the Knockout Tour were shown wrong; it’s now displaying correctly.
-
Issues when trying to join friend matches in Battle Mode or VS have also been corrected.
-
Falling through the map in the DK Spaceport track, which was strange, is gone.
-
When gliding between Airship Fortress and Bowser’s Castle, players went wrong place. That fixed too.
Still, few say the glitches weren’t all removed, so maybe more patches are coming.
What People Say Online
A lot of comments on game forums and Reddit now say improvements are seen, though not everything is perfect.
“My game don’t crash after online race anymore. Finally.”
Another user says the matchmaking works better, but someone else said it still freezes sometimes.
There’s Nothing New Actually
This update didn’t add any new tracks or content, or characters. It's just fixing and stabilizing stuff. Which is fine, but some may have been hoping more things would arrive already.
With all said and done, update 1.1.1 doesn’t bring excitement, but it is still necessary if you play Mario Kart World, especially online. Maybe the next update will have more fresh content. For now, at least, this patch does what it needs, even if not everyone finds it perfect.
