Orphie & Magus Confirmed for Zenless Zone Zero 2.2: Fire Element S-Rank Attackers Join the Obol Squad

The most recent Agent Record has shown that Orphie & Magus are going to be introduced as just one playable unit in Zenless Zone Zero’s version 2.2. They has already been confirmed to be fire-element aligned attackers and are part of the Obol Squad faction. While there was already some early talks and speculation going around after the Season 2 preview, this update now makes their role and element officially clear to everyone.

 

Combat Details from Preview Animations

There were leaks and closed test gameplay which showed Orphie & Magus in action, giving fans a look at their unique fighting style. Orphie, the red-haired girl, is bonded directly with Magus, who is a massive tail-like weapon attached to her back. She use it to slam and sweep enemies at close range, but also blast them with flames. In one of the animations, their ultimate ability looks like a spinning combo of fiery strikes that finishes with a large tail hit. There’s also a separate beam attack Magus shoots, which might be one of their main skills or could be part of the ultimate too. Their overall appearance includes mechanical and armor-like elements, with Magus partly showing out from behind her during movements.

Personality and Dynamic Between the Pair

When they are introduced in the Agent Record, Orphie shouts, “Tactical strategy: Annihilation-Delta!” and Magus replies, “Yes, Captain Magus!” That line alone hints at something interesting between them. Magus, even though he’s the weapon, seems to be the one in command, while Orphie just follows. It even jokes a little about fans who look too much at shiny merch, saying they got a more serious job to do in combat.

What to Expect in Version 2.2

Orphie & Magus will probably be introduced as an S-Rank Attacker unit when version 2.2 drops. Their playstyle mixes fast, aggressive melee tail hits with strong ranged fire damage, which makes them stand out from other characters. Since their marketing is now done, players are expecting them to release with the update that’s coming sometime in early September 2025.
